Your chance to have your love one remembered this year
We will all remember the outstanding display of remembrance at the the Tower of London in 2014 and since then the weeping window displays across the Country as we continue to remember every day all those who served in the Armed Forces and Merchant Navy and who died in service to our nation in war, conflict and terror.
Over the remembrance weekend, we are planning to create a unique carpet of remembrance made up of paper flowers each bearing the name of someone who served in the Armed Forces and Merchant Navy since 1900 and who gave their lives in the service of our Country. This includes those who passed away as the result of war, conflict, and terrorism.
To make this happen, and there are a lot of young people currently making paper flowers – we need friends and family to send us the name, service, age, and date of passing so that this can be written on individual paper flowers and added to our roll of remembrance. This unique project will then go on display in a parish church in Hampshire and provide the centrepiece for the remembrance services for all ages.
Also, we are aware of the many veterans who have served during this time – over 118 years in total who survived serving our country but have since passed away through ill health, accident and age and we want to remember these people as well and ensure that each paper flower represents them.
So, I appeal to every person I share this information with to share again and delve into your family history for names of parents, grandparents, uncles, and any of your family who have served over the years and who are no longer with us, and add their names to this very special and unique memorial.
Please email with the details and these will be added to the roll of honour and each one will be added individually to one of the handmade paper poppies.
If we can reach 5000 we might even make a record winning project and the young people I am working with will be pleased. So please don’t leave to someone else…
